Wireless home theater?

I'm going to be buying a new TV, a Sony 65" 4K, the 850 model without the
speakers on the sides of the screen as I don't have the room to accomodate that
wide of a TV at 66 inches. I can handle the 58 inch wide no speaker set.

For the past few years, with my 52 inch Sony Bravia, I have used a sound bar
which sits comfortably in front of the TV. But it appears that the new TV won't
sit high enough for me to put the sound bar in front of it without blocking the
bottom of the screen. So I was thinking of a home theater system, which I
haven't had in years.

That brings up another problem. Trying to run wires for speakers. My living room
isn't conducive to doing so with two doorways between the TV, on either side of
it, and the sofa where I'd want to put the rear speakers.

So I've been Googling "wireless home theater" and not coming up with much but
wireless woofers. Does a truly wireless home theater system exist? Also, does a
home theater system these days require a receiver or just speakers? Yes, I'm
admittedly somewhat out of the loop on these things nowadays.

Most of my TV watching is done with headphones as I am the primary watcher of
the big TV, my wife watching most of her TV on the bedroom set. Also, we live
close to the highway and when the windows are open, I need the headphones to
hear anything (retired with some hearing loss.) But on those occasions we sit
together and watch a movie, I want to have some decent sound coming out of
speakers.

Can anyone offer some suggestions or guidance as to what to do? Thanks much.

I'm surprised you didn't find complete wireless surround-sound system
with that search. I found plenty of options when I was looking for
the same thing several months ago. Here's what I ended up with:

This may not be the best solution, but it is what I did. I am using a
sound bar the same as you are. I built a shelf that slid down over the
top of the TV to set the sound bar on. It is a wood shelf. At the
front there is a piece that slides down to just above the screen and
in the back, just the thickness of the TV at the top from the front
is another that slides down and makes a kind of a sandwich of the top
of the TV with the shelf balanced on top. The shelf has trim along
the front and back to keep the bar from sliding off. I built it
to measure and had to angle the bottom of the back bit so that it
matched the angle of the case where it bulged back. So far it has
been working just fine.

This may not be suitable for all situations and YMMV, but it works for
me. All the usual caveats apply, use at your own risk, etc.

I'd be careful of making sure the heat rise from the TV set has
someplace to go. I can't see the thing so I don't know, but you
need some sort of sir gap between the top of the set and the shelf.

No problem for me. The top is very narrow and the vent holes are
mostly behind the back upright. I think less than 10% of the holes
are blocked.

Even if you get a wireless system you are still going to have a center
channel.

You can buy a center channel stand for flat screens like one of these
that would work with your sound bar.

That was just the first Google hit. There are many to choose from.
