Question about a phone charger

Again, not HDTV but electronics.

I bought a second Jitterbug cell phone to keep in my car so I always have one.
Unlike most people who have a cell, I often forget mine when I leave the house.
Chalk that up to getting old.

The A/C adapter that came with the phone is rated at an output of 4.5 volts and
.55A. I was going to order a car charger but found one in my drawer which fits
the phone and has an output of 5 volts, 1000ma, which if I'm converting
correctly, is 1 amp. Would it be alright to use this charger I found with the
phone, with the .5 volt difference at twice the amperage? Just trying to save
money. Thanks.

The half volt is probably of no consequence at all, and the current draw
is determined by the phone, not the charger, unless the charger can't
provide what the phone needs - but that's not the case here...
