Discussion:
Average TV Set's Audio vs Kleer, DSSS, BlueTooth ?

My ancient-and-honorable Radio Shack wireless headphones are on the way
out.

Been shopping replacements and it occurs to me that maybe, above a
certain fidelity level, additional sound quality in a wireless headset
might be wasted because it would exceed what's coming out of the TV.

A Vizio Razor in this case....

Can anybody speak to this? My hope would be that BlueTooth's fidelity
would line up with the TV's because BT headsets are relatively more
common than the 2.4 GHz DSSS and Kleer-based headsets.

OTOH, I'm not above blowing three big ones on a pair Sennheiser RS 220's
if the fidelity wouldn't be wasted.

Also, how about lip synch? From what I've read so far, Kleer
introduces a delay that at least some people can perceive whereas DSSS
does not.

When I listen via my BlueTooth LG 750's there's a definite lip synch
issue.

If you are sure you'll never use it for anything else, then the TV's
fidelity is a consideration.

If you might use the headset for another purpose, maybe you wouldn't
want to throttle the fidelity too much.

OTOH, I play my TV's line out through my receiver and it sounds fine to
me (same jack as the headphones, but switchable from headphones to line
out). Of course, I don't know what sort of signal your candidate
headphones might require.

Caveat: you might not want to let my ears be the judge :-)

I've got the original "tin ear".... musically retarded since day one...
and a couple weeks with a chain saw and no hearing protection kind of
finished me off. Tinnitus, nerve-deafness, and all that...

But, all that being said, I do find poor-quality sound somehow
irritating... can't put my finger on it, but the irritation goes away
when the quality is improved (as in switching from a laptop's speakers
to a set of wired headphones).

When it comes to your listening pleasure, you are the boss :-)

The best thing is therefore to listen to the various candidate devices
yourself in your home and connected to your TV.

That might be impractical, of course.

Totally. None of the stores I tried had wireless headsets to demo.

So I bought a set of Sennheiser RS-220's on faith.

Misplaced faith as it turned out..... The fidelity is pretty good, but
the UI is bad, *bad*, BAD.... so bad I would think somebody lost their
job over that one. And I'm not the only one....

Just a warning to anybody about to make the same leap. Longer rant on
Amazon.
