Calibrating an HDTV using THX Optimizer

I recently bought a 46 inch Samsung LED TV and would like to calibrate
the color. I understand that something called "THX Optimizer" is found
on DVDs like "Monsters Inc." and "Finding Nemo." How do I access THX
optimizer on one of these DVDs using my DVD player? How can I access it
on my computer's DVD drive? Possibly I can hook my computer to the TV.
It has connection for this on my TV.

On the Tron 20th Anniversary DVD it's on Disc 1 and it's access location is
within the System Setup menu. For those other discs (Monsters, Inc., Finding
Nemo), try looking for an option similar to Setup. If it's not there, make
sure the back label of the DVD case actually lists something like THX
Certified -- Includes THX Optimizer.

The computer DVD drive should read the disc just as well as the DVD player,
and the DVD player software installed on the computer should handle the rest
of the DVD functions and playback just as well as a standalone DVD player.

One thing to keep in mind. When you calibrate your TV using
the THX optimizer you may only be calibrating the DVD input.
I did that, but later realized that my TV stores the calibration
for each input separately. So I had to go back and calibrate
the OTA input and the HDMI input separately, mostly by guess
and by gosh. I just fiddled till it got to looking right.

I have a Samsung PN50A650 TV.

For BluRay, there may also be some optimizers hidden on some discs. THX
ones may have similar entries.

I recently bought the BluRay of the Doctor Who specials, and it has some
calibration stuff from the publisher, 2|Entertainment.
