"These people are watching shows and movies on the Internet, sometimes
via cellphone connections. Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling
people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside
the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these
residences in the U.S., up from 2 million in 2007."

The day that the industry eventually manages to pressure the FTC to get
rid of OTA TV, there'll be 5,000,0001 households.

Which industry is that?

Which industry is that?
Whoever covets the bandwidth used by OTA.

There was a flurry of articles in the media about it some months ago,
but I cannot cite or recall the exact details.

But it rings true to me that, in the context of bandwidth scarcity,
*somebody* wants that bandwidth.

"But the FCC did recognize that certain viewers in fringe reception
zones could experience a loss of service — one that could be addressed
by subsidizing improved antennas for homeowners or requiring cable or
satellite operators to develop a “lifeline” television service
consisting of local broadcasters, either for free or at a minimal
monthly cost."

Call me a cynic, but I suspect the probability of free lifeline service
are somewhere between zero and Null....
