A couple of months ago I got a $3.50 increase for my monthly rate. The fact that i didn't get it around Xmas time for a change, I thought. oh OK, $3.50 is not that bad, though i did not like it. Now, today i opened my bill and they added another $18 bucks, and I am steaming. Tomorrow I am cancelling, but in the interim, i have to keep my $64 a month internet with them...until i am able to find another, which is rare in my Brooklyn neighborhood...they have a monopoly here. When i threatened to end my cable with them a couple of years ago, they warned me that my internet would go up..so they get you either way. Anyone could suggest a good streaming outfit? I am aware of the names Sling, Hula and etc. but i have heard pros and cons for all of them, and of course the results you get depends on how good your wifi is.

no. You're a sucker for their talk track.

Remember, they pull their prices out of thin air. "Oh, you want to
bundle TV and cable with us? That bundle will be $X. We'll declare
that to be the sum of $(1/2)X + $(1/2)X."

Then you want to cancel, and they start up their talk track. "Well,
sir, you know your internet price will GO UP! You don't want THAT, do
you?" Then you find out that without TV, your internet price is
actually $(5/8)X.

So what you pay them goes down, but OMG YOUR INTERNET PRICE "WENT UP!"

Do you care?

Also, internet-only customers don't get any below the line fees or
taxes from where I stand. The price is the price. They don't tell you
that; they calculate ONLY above the line when they try to scare you.

Maybe that is where you live that they won't actually raise their internet prices. But this morning i had an interesting talk with one of their techs where i was planning to cancel my TV, and as suspected, they think they are giving you a break by taking off, in my case, $3 bucks. He did mention an alternative. The end of this month of Jan. Spectrum is going to offer a la Cart streaming package, where you ask for whatever tv channel you prefer, not unlike the other stream company's offers. The caveat is you have to have a smart TV, preferably Samsung, a Roku, ( no chromecast ) won't work, and their cable box. All close to the $40 range, included tax. On demand would be included. Now, I have tried Sling for a week and the transmission is not bad, but i suspect with a box like Spectrum, it would vastly improve on tv. So I have till the 30th of this month to decide.

I don't understand what you said.

Are you saying that in your case, internet only is only $3 less than
internet+TV?
