I had cut the cord for cable with them, but retained the internet. I live in Brooklyn NY, and they have a monopoly with both, cables and internet. Almost a year has gone by and i was just informed, and really expected as such, an increase of $20 starting in November. Nice enough for them to let me know before hand. It was 54.99 and now it will be 74.99...at that rate its already starting to show how they got you by the you know what. You cut their cable they get back at you via internet. I am a senior and can't keep getting raised each year based on what....inflation? There will always be inflation, except during a depression. Anyone could advise me on how could survive these greedy creeps? $20? I barely get a 1 1/2 percent social security raise each year. Lets not forget all those other utilities we need...elect,gas, and phones..I mean landline phones....look at those prices that these company throw around the androids and io's...

The $74.99 is Spectrum's rack rate for internet, the rate everyone
gets after promo rates have expired or they unbundle from other
services. I am on it too, as I have only internet and my promo rate
expired.

You said you are a senior. Spectrum has an unadvertised rate that is
only for seniors. There might be some income requirement, but I am
not sure. If you qualify for it, the rate is $17.99 a month if you
use your own router, or $23.99 if you rent their router. The speed is
lower, I think 30 mbps, as opposed to the 200 mbps you get for
$74.99. However, 30 mbps should be fine for most usage, unless you
have multiple users and high demand.

My friend has this senior rate and he says it works great for
streaming videos and Zoom calls.

You will have to call and ask for it, as they do not generally
mention it as one of their options.

DEE, i called Spectrum and there was nothing offered about senior discounts...I asked about it and even mentioned that i did not need 200 or 300, but at the minium 50 and she said 200 and nothing less. She did say that they would lower the internet rate, if i take their TV package. I told her that was the reason i had cut the cord, to get rid of the tv garbage.

Argh. I bet some of the reps aren't aware of it since they don't
advertise it. It's not a senior discount. It's an actual tier or
plan, just like their 200, or 400 tiers. It has a different name
though. I read it in the fine print on the website.

You might try calling them back, telling them you are a senior on
fixed income and you know someone who has this plan, 30 mbps for
$17.99, or $22.99 with router. Meanwhile I will contact my friend and
ask him if the name of this plan/tier is printed on his bill.

I googled "spectrum internet senior plan" and found this page

https://www.spectrum.com/internet/spectrum-internet-assist

This is the plan my friend has. Hope it works out for you.
